Terms and Conditions for Entrants of the Hanscom FCU Foundation $10,000 Cash Raffle
Winner must be at least 18 years of age or older.
Winner need not be present to win.
All applicable taxes are the responsibility of the winner based on the value of the prize. The value of the prize will be treated as ordinary income to the winner for federal and state income tax purposes. The winner may be required to pre-pay a portion of the tax liability prior to receiving the prize. The Internal Revenue Service takes the position that no portion of the ticket price will qualify as a charitable donation for federal tax purposes.
All entrants understand and agree that they are entering to win a $10,000.00 cash prize. The prize will be awarded as a pre-paid debit card.
The winning entry will be drawn upon having sold all one thousand two hundred and fifty (1,250) tickets or by December 31, 2012. No more than one thousand (1,250) tickets will be sold.
If fewer than five hundred (500) tickets are sold, Hanscom FCU Foundation may, at its option, cancel the drawing. In that event, applications for refunds will be mailed to purchasers. In the event that only the minimum number of tickets is sold, the estimated percentage of the ticket price that will be used for charitable purposes is 0%.
Present employees, volunteers and agents of Hanscom Federal Credit Union, the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless, and Nearman & Associates P.C., as well as their immediate family (spouse, children, siblings, parents and in-laws) or members of their households shall not be permitted to purchase chances for the raffle or win the prize.
Raffle chances must be paid for by cash, check or debit to a Hanscom FCU share or share draft account. There is no limit on the number of chances an individual may purchase. Before an entry is considered valid, Hanscom FCU must have successfully withdrawn the cost of the ticket from the Hanscom FCU account designated by the purchaser. If there are insufficient funds to make the withdrawal upon Hanscom FCU’s first attempt, one additional attempt will be made once all other entries received that day have been processed. If, after two attempts, Hanscom FCU is unable to withdraw the entry fee from the purchaser’s account, the entry will be voided and notification will be mailed to the member. Checks returned from other institutions for insufficient funds will void the purchaser’s entry.
For entry requests made via Hanscom FCU’s website or telephone, the funds will be withdrawn in the order in which the entries are received and a unique ticket number will be assigned to the purchaser. Depositing a ticket or any other material in connection with the raffle in the federal mails is a violation of federal law and may lead to criminal penalties.
Drawing to be held and results announced by Nearman & Associates, P.C. at Hanscom FCU, 1610 Eglin St., Hanscom AFB, when Hanscom FCU has sold all one thousand (1,250) tickets or on December 31, 2012, whichever comes first.
By purchasing a chance, the winner agrees to sign a form provided by Hanscom FCU Foundation acknowledging receipt of the raffle prize.
By purchasing a chance, the winner agrees to participate in any promotional event associated with this raffle, which may include publication of the winner’s name and picture in newsletters, posters and/or Internet web sites. Questions regarding this raffle should be directed to Patricia Warden Conty of Hanscom FCU at 800-656-4328, ext. 2277.
