Protect Yourself Online

Hanscom FCU and its Online Access provider employ multiple layers of security to protect your account information and transactions on our servers and the internet.

Please note that no part of Hanscom FCU’s website or Online Access was ever vulnerable to the Heartbleed bug.  Helping protect your personal and financial information is one of our top priorities — every day, 24/7.

While there’s no indication of compromise, please keep these best practices in mind:

  • We recommend members periodically change their passwords and use a unique password for each site.
  • When websites ask you to change your password, do not click the password reset link, instead go to the website like you normally do and manually change your passwords.
  • Do not click on any links from or install any software offered to you by new companies claiming to secure you from the Heartbleed vulnerability.

Take steps in the areas below to protect yourself and your computer when using Online Access and the Internet in general.

If you suspect account compromise or attempted fraud, call 800-656-4328  or contact us online.

Used Your Card at Target?
A security compromise has exposed data for credit and debit cards used at Target stores between Nov. 27 and Dec. 15 2013. In light of this, we are monitoring our members’ accounts for possible fraud and will contact you to verify unusual activity or other potentially fraudulent use of your card. If we suspect your card may have been used for fraudulent activity, we will block the card until we are able to contact you to verify that you authorized the transaction in question.

The information that may have been exposed during this incident was limited to what was encoded on the card’s magnetic stripe, including cardholder name, account number, expiration date, and three digit security code.

Steps You Can Take
We recommend that you review your accounts for suspicious activity, especially If you used it at Target during the dates listed about.
  • Log in to Online Access HD and review your transactions. Contact us immediately if you see anything suspicious.
  • Activate Alerts on your credit card or checking accounts by logging on to Online Access HD and going to Preferences > Alerts.
Zero Liability® Protection
As a reminder, Visa’s Zero Liability® program protects you from any unauthorized use of your Hanscom Visa Platinum and ATM & Check Card. Please contact us immediately at 800-656-4328 if you notice any suspicious activity on your card.
