Hanscom AFB, MA (Jan. 22, 2021) – Hanscom FCU Charitable Foundation hosted its annual Holiday Raffle, which raised a grand total of $15,400, capping off another year of generous employee and volunteer support. This annual event benefits A Bed for Every Child, an initiative of the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless. Contributions from Hanscom FCU employees totaled $7,700, which was matched by a $7,700 donation from the credit union.

The funds raised from the raffle and various other fundraising campaigns throughout the year, combined with an additional $2,500 contribution from the credit union, resulted in total donation of $38,106 for the Coalition in 2020.

“We’ve supported the Coalition and A Bed for Every Child for years now, and are glad to continue that support in an unprecedented year,” said Ray Phillips, Hanscom FCU’s chairman of the board. “Not only does every child deserve a safe, comfortable place to get a restful night’s sleep, every student deserves a place that helps them learn. The Coalition’s work is absolutely invaluable, and we’re proud to be able to help them on their mission.”

Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless, working with public schools to assist families at risk of homelessness in 2012, learned that many children struggle in school because they do not get a good night’s sleep, often because they do not have their own bed to sleep in. As a result, the Coalition launched A Bed for Every Child to provide beds for children in need. This $38,106 donation will provide over 150 beds for children in the Commonwealth.
