Littleton, MA (May 18, 2022) – Hanscom Federal Credit Union held its 68th Annual Meeting on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 in person at their Littleton Operations Center and via videoconference. Chairman of the Board John Delcore reported that the credit union’s performance remains steady despite the ongoing challenges brought upon by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Chairman Delcore began the meeting by introducing the newly elected members of the Board of Directors, retired Hanscom FCU President & CEO David Sprague and Lawrence Rzepecki, and formally introduced Peter Rice, Hanscom FCU’s recently appointed President/CEO.

“My compliments to the Board and to David Sprague,” Rice said during his remarks about the leadership transition and his first few months at Hanscom FCU. “This is a very well-run organization. It’s an absolute testament to the purpose-driven life. We’re all here from different backgrounds, different opinions, different strengths, and different opportunities, but what unites us as a community is our focus on that purpose: to be the trusted advisors that people turn to for unbiased financial guidance. And so while the torch has been passed, the mission remains the same.”

Chairman Delcore shared some of what the credit union accomplished in 2021, despite it being another year marked by pandemic challenges. These achievements exemplified the credit union’s ongoing focus on bringing value to members and supporting the community, and included:

  • Earning the “Best Credit Union in the U.S.” designation by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine for the third time;
  • The unveiling of a new tagline, “Do More With Your Money”;
  • The launching of a revamped and more personalized website with features that are even better suited for use on mobile devices, and an updated Online Access interface with more robust payment and external transfer operations;
  • Hanscom FCU Charitable Foundation reaching the milestone total of $1,000,000 donated to the Home Base Program, which has the goal of healing the invisible wounds of war for veterans, active duty service members, and their families.

Rice tied the core philosophy of credit unions to his vision for Hanscom FCU’s future in his remarks. “Why a purpose-driven life?” he asked. “That’s the very founding of this credit union, when a like-minded community join together and share resources, it raises our community up, and what better way to spend your working life than on a mission such as ours. That will be our focus, and it has been our focus, it will remain our focus, and we will do it through the vehicle of financial wellness.”
