LITTLETON, MA February 5, 2025 — Hanscom Federal Credit Union (HFCU) is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Larry Rzepecki, a valued and dedicated member of its Board of Directors. Rzepecki passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2025, at the age of 79, surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was a devoted leader at HFCU, serving on the Board of Directors since 1979. Throughout his tenure, he held multiple executive positions and chaired several key committees, helping to shape the growth and success of the credit union. His extensive financial acumen and unwavering commitment to the credit union movement made a lasting impact on HFCU and its members.“Larry’s dedication, leadership, and passion for serving our members were unparalleled,” said Hanscom Federal Credit Union Chairperson President & CEO Peter Rice. “He was a mentor, a friend, and an integral part of our credit union. His contributions to HFCU and the credit union movement will be remembered.”
Larry’s professional career spanned over four decades with the Department of Defense in Boston, MA. He also dedicated 22 years as the owner and director of Smithfield Summer School, leveraging his passion for education as a certified secondary mathematics teacher. His financial expertise was further exemplified through his work auditing federal credit unions and serving as treasurer for two credit unions early in his career.
Beyond his professional contributions, he was an active and engaged member of his community. A fluent Polish speaker, he played an instrumental role in the Polish-American community in Rhode Island, serving in leadership positions with the Pulaski Mutual Aid Society and as Treasurer of the Rhode Island Polonia Scholarship Foundation. He was also a longtime trustee at St. Joseph’s Church in Central Falls, RI, and a Trustee of the Buttonwoods Camping Association in Warwick, RI, where he and his wife, Helena, enjoyed summers with their family.
