Hanscom FCU welcomed Rex Johnson, owner/founder of Lending Solutions Consulting, Inc. (LSC), for a four-day University of Lending training at the credit union’s headquarters.

Hanscom FCU employees and guests from five other credit unions delved deeply into the fundamentals of interpreting credit reports, loan ratios, and sound decision-making.

“Working with Rex since about 2003 has allowed us to expand our knowledge and improve our member relationships,” explained Donna Brien, AVP of Consumer Loan Operations at Hanscom FCU. “We teach our members how to improve their credit scores and pay less interest, not just to us, but also to their other creditors.”

Hanscom FCU hosts the Rex Johnson sessions each year. Typically staff from smaller credit unions attend to take advantage of the opportunity to gain a better insight to servicing their members’ lending needs.

“Sharing this training with other credit unions helps them educate their lending staff so they can better serve their members,” explained Brien. “Credit unions are known for helping each other, and we are happy we can do this.”

This year, staff from five credit unions joined the class: Granite State CU (Manchester, NH), Luso American Credit Union (Peabody, MA), and Tremont Credit Union (Boston), York County FCU (York, ME) and Premier Source Credit Union (East Longmeadow, MA) were in attendance.
