Celebrate “Cooperation for a Prosperous World” on International Credit Union Day® at Hanscom Federal Credit Union

LITTLETON, MA (October 16, 2025) – Today, credit union members around the world – including Hanscom Federal Credit Union (HFCU) – will celebrate International Credit Union Day®, an annual event to commemorate the credit union movement’s impact and achievements.

This year marks the 77th anniversary of the annual event, which will be celebrated under the theme of “Cooperation for a Prosperous World.”

“On International Credit Union Day, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting members and the communities we serve,” said Peter Rice, President and CEO of HFCU. “Credit unions are built on cooperation, and that spirit guides everything we do. Our goal is to extend financial empowerment, expand access to the financial system, and help families build generational wealth in every community we serve. At Hanscom Federal Credit Union, we live that mission every day by being the trusted advisor people turn to for unbiased financial guidance.”

Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives serving more than 411 million members in 104 countries. With over 74,000 institutions worldwide, they offer a full range of financial services and are recognized as a powerful force for positive economic and social change.

Since 1948, International Credit Union Day® has been celebrated annually on the third Thursday of October. Each year, the international event affords the opportunity to remember credit unions’ proud history.

International Credit Union Day is organized by World Council of Credit Unions, the global trade association and development platform for credit unions and other financial cooperatives, as well as numerous national credit union trade associations and federations around the world.
