Hanscom FCU Charitable Foundation Honors Martin Walsh and Coleman Nee for Outstanding Service to Veterans at Annual Awards Dinner
Proceeds from the Dinner, totaling $125,000, were presented to Home Base, a national nonprofit supporting veterans and military families
CANTON, MA - September 30, 2025 - The Hanscom Federal Credit Union Charitable Foundation hosted its annual Honorary Awards Dinner at the Blue Hill Country Club, where two distinguished public servants were honored for their dedication to supporting veterans and military families.
The evening’s highest honor, the Brigadier General Enoch “Woody” Woodhouse II Leadership Award, was presented to Martin J. Walsh, former Boston Mayor and U.S. Secretary of Labor. The award, named after one of the last surviving Tuskegee Airmen, celebrates individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership and a lifelong commitment to veterans’ advocacy.
Also honored was Coleman Nee, National Commander of Disabled American Veterans (DAV), who received the Minuteman Award for his unwavering dedication to country, community, and fellow veterans. Nee, a Marine Corps veteran and former Secretary of Veterans’ Services for Massachusetts, was recognized for his enduring leadership and service.
The evening included a heartfelt address by Brigadier General Enoch “Woody” Woodhouse II, whose legacy as a Tuskegee Airman continues to inspire generations. The dinner brought together key stakeholders, community leaders, and supporters to celebrate those who champion veteran causes.
“This event is about honoring those who serve—not just on the battlefield, but in boardrooms, in city halls, and in communities across the country,” said Peter Rice, President & CEO of Hanscom Federal Credit Union. “We are proud to recognize leaders like Marty Walsh and Coleman Nee, whose work has made a real, lasting difference in the lives of our veterans.”
Proceeds from the Honorary Awards Dinner benefit Home Base, a Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Program that supports veterans and military families. Since 2014, Hanscom FCU Charitable Foundation has donated more than $1.6 million to Home Base to fund clinical care, wellness, and education.
Home Base was presented with a check for $125,000, representing all donations from the evening. Funds raised will support clinical care for veterans and their families.
