As 2021 winds down and I write my annual letter to you, I’m hoping that you, your loved ones, and your communities are safe and have persevered through what has been a challenging year for many.

I’m happy to report that despite the challenges the last 21 months have wrought around the world, we’ve been able to accomplish many good things for Hanscom Federal Credit Union members despite the lingering pandemic. Our 2021 achievements include:

  • An increase of $109.7 million in savings deposits by our members since the beginning of the year, which helps keep our credit union strong;
  • Reaching a $1 million milestone in donations to Home Base through Hanscom FCU’s Charitable Foundation in November, keeping support for veterans, service members, and their families at the forefront of our philanthropic efforts;
  • Best Credit Union in the U.S.” designation by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine for the third time;
  • A busy year in our Mortgage department and branches where our employees managed record volumes of mortgage and home equity applications that help our members purchase, refinance, and improve their homes;
  • Branch refreshes at our Bedford, Billerica, Burlington, and South Bay-Dorchester retail locations, including new quick transaction stations to enable members to conduct simple transactions efficiently;
  • An introduction of our new tagline, Do More With Your Money, which drives us to help you, our members, to reach all your financial goals so you can Do More!
  • A refreshed digital experience with a more modern and easier to navigate website at www.hfcu.org and improvements to Online Access, offering our members better options to pay their loans with us, or transfer funds to and from other financial institutions;
  • The dozens of webinars and community events led by our Partner Relations team, a team that worked diligently throughout the year to get important financial information about credit scores, retirement planning, budgeting, and more into the hands of many in our communities;
  • Winning a “Category Best” Diamond Award from the Credit Union National Association for a fun marketing campaign that encouraged and rewarded members for referring a friend for membership; and
  • The creation of our first Member Story video, featuring the Angelinis from Reading, Mass., who worked together to build a family-run local business, American Bench Craft, with Hanscom FCU’s help. (Watch the video here!)

We’re sure 2021 has been marked by as much change and opportunity for you as it has been for us. You may have moved into a new home, experienced a job change, or started planning for retirement. As your credit union, we are committed to helping you Do More by offering you lower loan rates, higher deposit rates, and fewer and lower fees wherever you are in life.

On behalf of our Board of Directors and the Employees of Hanscom Federal Credit Union, I wish you and yours a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2022.

Sincerely,

John A. Delcore

Chairman of the Board
